Deceivers, Mockers and Liars

Galatians 1:8 says “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”

There is a line that has been drawn in the sand, spiritual sand that is, and those who continue to step over it are finding themselves against the word and not just the word, but God and his judgment. This line has to do with the promises set forth in the word as it regards to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, from Pentecost to present day.

In Acts 1:5 we see Jesus make a promise, “For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.” Then in Acts 1:8, Christ expands once again just what was going to happen when he left and the Holy Spirit comes, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Jesus tells us two distinct things that was to occur when he left, 1. The Disciples (and those who remained with the 12) would be filled (baptized) with the Holy Spirit. 2. The Disciples (and the rest of those who remained in the upper room) would receive power which would allow them to be a witness unto the world.

Jesus was referring to the advent of the upper room which was the day of Pentecost were 120 dedicated believers stayed under the commandment of Christ and were filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues (Acts 2:4). This began what we now call Pentecost, or, what we refer to today as Pentecostalism.

But now, almost 2,000 years later, there is a growing hatred against Pentecost and those who still proclaim it today. These men, even Denominations, are gearing up for a battle and that battle has come with one mission, to deny, reject and all but condemn the power of the Holy Spirit in today’s world and worse, call those who are being baptized with this power from on high, this promise (1 Cor. 12:13) as instruments of the Devil. They have become drunk with a spirit of self-righteousness, they are clouds without water (Jude 1:12, 2 Peter 2:17) they have become a law unto themselves (Romans 2:14) and by doing so, in their religious ignorance, they have rejected the promise given unto the church today.

Yet, what is worse, they have not only rejected the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the evidence of speaking in tongues (Acts 2:4) but the gifts (1 Cor. 12:7-10) as well. Even worse, they have fallen for a spirit of deception and began a mission to discredit this experience by calling all of those who have received the promise as outlined in the word, as heretics. But Jesus called them something else, a brood of vipers. (Matthew 12:34)

The Apostle Paul gave us a warning about such men in his letters, warning the church to beware of such men that would reject the message he had come to present, “Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets; Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.” (Acts 13:40-41)

What did Paul preach that he would call some “despisers”? Ephesians 4:5 says that it is “One Lord, One faith, One baptism”. Paul preached Christ, Paul preached the gifts for the church and all those who would receive him (Holy Spirit), he (Paul) preached the evidence of speaking in other tongues (1 Cor. 14:4), Paul preached the message of the cross (Romans 6). All of this Paul the Apostle preached and taught the people, yet he re-affirmed the gifts and offices given to us (the church) in both Eph. 4:11, but in 1 Cor. 12:7-10. So now we affirm what Paul preached. But what did Paul warn us about in Galatians 1:8? “But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.”

I submit to you, that ANYONE who dares preach that the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the offices of the 5 fold ministry (Apostles, Prophets, Bishops, Evangelists and Teachers) as outlined in Ephesians 4:11 have ended and are not operating today are deceivers and liars,  they are promoting a doctrine of devils. No matter how well and good they seem to relate the word of God, if ANY MAN try to take away from you the glory and power of God’s spirit, let that man (or woman) be accursed! I didn’t say it, Paul did!

In 1 Timothy 4:1, Paul, under direction and inspiration of the Holy Ghost, gives us a clear warning to remember, “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;” It is my stance that ANY teaching today which rejects the baptism of the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in other tongues, be it from Charles Stanley, John MacArthur or Mike Hoggard, are in fact doctrines of devils. Why? Because these men not only denounce the power and glory of God, they reject his working within the church for today – they have poured out upon themselves Gods judgment if they do not repent. For it is impossible for any person, who claims Christ, to reject, scoff and openly mock the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, tongues, prophesy or any other of the 9 gifts of the spirit.

The line has been drawn in the sand, God is dividing the flock, those who are truly his and those who are not his. They who pronounce judgment upon the true and divine nature of the promise of the Holy Spirit and those who are receiving it are bringing themselves under quick condemnation, for here is the warning Jesus gave us about touching the Holy Spirit and his involvement in our world today, “Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.” Matthew 12:31

Those who mock, scoff and reject the baptism of the Holy Spirit do so at their own peril. Why? Because it is this power which gives us the ability to lay hands on the sick, cast out devils, prophesy for edification of the saints (Eph. 4:12). The baptism of the Holy Spirit is the promise Jesus gave us, which Peter boldly reminded us in the word in Acts 2:16 “But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;” Peter did not say “This fulfills that” he said, this is THAT, a continuation of the promise which came and is still here today.

Yet, those who wish to condemn and reject this promise, are doing so under the watchful eye of God the Father and we are to mark them for what they are, false teachers who cause division. Yes, anyone who teaches against the outpouring, baptism of the Holy Spirit are FALSE TEACHERS. Why? Because they DENY the word of God. If anyone, angel or other, denies one portion of the word of God, they are false, why? Because they have rejected the truth and replaced it with a lie, Paul said it like this; “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.” Romans 1:21

So what is the answer? The answer is to stick with the word and not another gospel, for I tell you even now as I type this, those who preach or teach that the gifts of the Holy Spirit has ended, those who reject the power of the Holy Spirit are indeed preaching another gospel and are liars. It must always be Jesus Christ and him crucified, it must be the cross and all its benefits, not some, not a portion, but ALL.

1 Corinthians 12:7 says, “The manifestation of the spirit is given to EVERY man to profit withal.”
