A lot can change in 15 years. 15 years from today we, as a nation, will have sat thru at least 2 Presidents (depending on the election(s)). Wall Street will have another great high and low. Wars and rumors of wars will plague the world. Violence and corruption will grow greater and expand into all facets of our lives. The generation which has been considered the greatest generation (1940’s WWII Depression era) will have now all passed. A growing resentment toward evangelical Christianity will gain momentum. These are all but shadows of things to come within just 15 years of our future.

Socially however, another change will have occurred within the nation and its people and that change is the sentiment toward gays and lesbians and homosexuality in general. In just 5 years alone we have seen 16 States become havens for same sex marriage, and by the rapid shift in our culture when it comes to ideology and spiritual beliefs, that shift is expanding and growing broader everyday. Yet even in the church, opinions and beliefs about homosexuality and same sex marriage is slowly changing.

In a 2012-MAY, a CNN poll showed that 58% of respondents believe that a lesbian or gay person cannot change their sexual orientation; 34% believe that they can; 8% have no opinion. In a Gallup poll taken in May of 2013, 18 to 34 years-of-age showed that 74% regard “gay or lesbian relations” as “morally acceptable”.

In one decade (since 2003) the ratio between those who oppose homosexuality and same sex marriage and those who favor it has drastically changed, where the support for gay marriage and equality rights literally out number those who oppose it are 4-1. (Pew) The facts remain the same, an entire nation is changing its views on perversion – including the church. Within 15 years we will see a significant change in opinion when it comes to same sex marriage and we only have to look to the present to see the roots beginning to sprout.

In recent months, several Christian Organizations and Denominations have began the shift to accepting the idea of homosexual orientation. The latest is the Salvation Army, the very foundation William Booth founded to reach the lost, is in fact appeasing the lost by keeping them bound in the lifestyle they have become entangled in. This is a sign of things to come.

I believe that within 15 years a national evangelical minister will shake the foundation of the church world by all but endorsing homosexuality and embracing the concept of equality and same sex marriage, uniting perversion with a new form of gospel – but it will be another gospel. This will equally give way to more States coming into the camp of same sex support, namely, I believe at least 20 more States will sign onto the agenda that is sweeping this nation, much less the world. Some of those states are: New Mexico, Oregon, Michigan, Virginia, Nevada, Colorado, Ohio, Utah, Indiana, Tennessee and Pennsylvania. It takes time for a drastic change to a nation to take full affect, but this change is sweeping across our nation at such a rapid pace that it’s almost impossible to keep up with the change. But within 15 years alone, our society, our very culture will no longer hold to the past ideas and religious beliefs of mainstream Christianity – that will be a thing of the past.

We must understand why this is happening, once we understand the “why” then it’s important that the believer understand the time they have been given to preach the gospel and stand, even though that stand will cost the believer something. The era of comfort is quickly becoming a thing of the past that only the past, older generations had the luxury to be given, for the next 15 years we will be entering into the forefront of complex Christianity where it will actually cost us something to follow our savior. I say again, within 15 years and beyond, it will COST a person who claims to be in Christ, something. Whether that cost is a job, a wife, or husband, a family, the change in our society and culture and its attitude towards traditional evangelical belief will make it near but impossible for the believer not to be confronted by the rising tide of hatred toward Christian beliefs. Bottomline, if you truly believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ, you won’t be able to run from an opinion, there will be no fence riding in the coming years, you will either stand up and be counted and endure to the end, or you will fade into the darkness, overcome by the pressures of the world. There will be no safety but Christ and the company of like minded believers.

15 years might be a long time to think about and most likely, many will ignore the words of this prophet and my warning. But time has a way of warning us throughout our walk that things do change and one cannot change the past just as equally one cannot change the future – we can only fight it. I leave you, the reader, with the warnings of the apostle Paul, “But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.” 2 Timothy 3:1-6
