“And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.” Luke 16:23

On your first arrival in hell, there will be no fanfare to greet you with cheers and applauds as you enter into its gates, only the thunderous weeping and bewailing of the souls who have been in this place of torment for centuries, maybe only days, before you arrived will greet you.

Your first night in hell you will begin to plead your innocence and that there has been a terrible mistake made in the eternal book of truth. In hell you will shout, nay, even scream your right to be removed from this place of eternal darkness, but to no avail, for then you will realize all too late the reality of your situation and eternal hopelessness.

Your first night in hell you will hear the screams and terrors of those in whom you now share in this eternal abode. You will hear their pleas for mercy, some will demand vengeance while others will plead for the eternal God of all creation to end their plight of terror. Your first night.

Your first night in hell you will recall every opportunity that came to you to follow Christ, even the most far distant memory will seem like only distant hours as you recount why you rejected such great salvation. On your first night in hell, you will remember each sermon you ignored, every altar call given, every plea from the preacher warning you of the perils you will face in eternity you now occupy, but to no avail, for the flames around you will constantly remind you of the result of your denial. On your first night in hell, you will recall the times you scoffed at those who witnessed to you – even your own mother, you will recall each word, each tearful desire to come to Christ and repent of your sins, but only now will you understand their genuine concerns.

Your first night in hell you will have no friendships from the natural world, for in this place called hell, there are no friends, no companions, no friends in torment, but only enemies, for those you will encounter will see another lost soul, another fool who threw away such great opportunity for salvation.

Your first night in hell you will plead for water to cool your tongue, for the torment of this place will be unbearable as you seek to satisfy the very craving of your soul as you wander throughout this dark place but find no comfort.

Your first night in hell will all be due to one thing – you. Only you will have yourself to blame on your first night in hell. For then and only then will you realize the greater terror and that is that your first night in hell will be eternal and there will be no end. Then your torment will truly begin.

Your only hope is TODAY, for TODAY is the day of salvation. Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Don’t make your first night in hell a reality.
