“Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” Hebrews 1:14

Before I delve into the current teaching by many “word of faith” teachers and preachers, let me quote from the apostle Paul in the matter of another gospel, “But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:8

There is a growing interest by many Christians into the teaching of Angels and their involvement in our every day lives. While it is true that Angels are within our dimension and do in fact involve themselves in our lives, there are some things which Angels do not do, nor can do, one of those things which I want to focus on that many are being caught up in is the teaching which says angels can heal people.

In everything we believe or teach, if it does not line up with the word of God, it is to be rejected, with no exception. I’ve noticed recently some popular individuals who are becoming more and more open of promoting the concept of directing angels in our lives, especially when it comes to healing. Sadly, many within the body of Christ are coming to the place where they are believing a lie instead of accepting the truth, and this lie is that angels heal.

While it is true, angels do minister to us in many ways as they once did on the past, they do not provide healing for the believer and the reason is simple, angels are messengers of God, not messengers of salvation or, in this case, healing. Here are some examples of what angels can do:

Angels can communicate (Matthew 1:20, Acts 7:52-53, Acts 8:26)

Angels can eat (Genesis. 19:3,Genesis 18:1-15, Judges 13:1-23)

Angels can kill (2 Kings 19:20-34)

Angels can rebel (Matthew 25:41; 2 Peter 2:4; Jude 6; Ephesians 6:12)

Angels can reproduce (Genesis 6:1-4)

These are some of the things angels can do, however, there are things angels cannot do simply because they are created beings and because they are created, they are limited in their ministry to man in that they are on assignment to guide, give comfort, give strength and encourage to the saints of God, even give revelation (prophecy). But when it comes to healing, angels do not heal for there is but one who can heal and that is God the Father represented in his son, Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 2:24 makes it clear, “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.”

No angel in heaven can replace the doctrine of divine healing made through the work of the cross, however, many are proclaiming that not only can angels be called upon at will (Kenneth Copeland), but that angels can also give us our healing. This is heresy and why it is heresy is that it removes the object of our faith, which is Christ, to something else, in this case angels. When Christ went to the cross, he paid for the sin of man, and part of that atonement was the promise of our healing (Isaiah 53:4-5), but some preachers, such as Todd Bentley and those within the word faith movement, are removing the object of faith (which is Christ) to something other (in this case angels). This is yet another example of how far some are attempting to deceive and remove believers from the truth, the truth which says everything we need was paid and atoned for on the cross.

This is the subtle lie which is creeping in and making believers deceived by the teachings of men like Bentley and others, such as Copeland, as well as those within the Toronto apostolic reformation camp under the guidance of Bob Jones and Peter Wagoner. The concept of “angelic healing” was first brought onto the scene thru Bob Jones, when a female angel named “Emma” appeared to some in angelic visitation at the prophetic movement in Kansas City 1980’s period, where this “angel” spoke of the outpouring of a “new” prophetic movement, it was Todd Bentley who declared that he had seen the appearance of this female “Emma” angelic being, who, as Todd described, was tall in appearance and proceeded to float along the aisles, introducing the gold “dust” and thus a new apostolic movement was born, including the teaching which says healing can now come from angels. Once again, another gospel.

There is no question these teachings are not by accident, and here’s why, we are living in the last days and because we are in the last days, many false teachers will give arise, teaching things they ought not, deceiving and being deceived (2 Timothy 3:13), this includes the teaching of healing via angels.

It must be understood that everything we have achieved is through the cross, not just for salvation, but everything that comes with that atonement, including healing. Angels cannot heal because angels did not pay the price for the sins of man, angels cannot heal because they were created, not triune, they are messengers of the most high only, designed for one purpose, to glorify the Lord. When we teach anything other than Jesus Christ and him crucified, we are teaching another gospel, another way, another path and that directional change, if not corrected, will bring the believer into great peril, even, if not dealt with, spiritual death.

Those who are advocating that angels can heal, or suggest that angels help them in their ministry to heal are deceiving the people and worse, themselves, for they are listening to another spirit and it’s a spirit not sent by God. Read the warning of the apostle Paul when it comes to angelic deception, “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” 2 Corinthians 11:15

If anything, be it man or angel, comes preaching another gospel which moves the object of our faith to something else, this includes the false teaching which says angels can heal, removes the cross as our object of faith and places it onto another object (angels) is another gospel and one which must be rejected. That must be the response to the believer when it comes to false doctrine and the teaching of “healing angels”.
