CHRISTIAN MEDIUMS – THE RETURN OF THE SPIRIT OF ENDOR

““If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or wonder that he tells you comes to pass, and if he says, ‘Let us go after other gods,’ which you have not known, ‘and let us serve them,’you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the LORD your God is testing you, to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.” Deuteronomy 13:1-3

The following is a prophetic glimpse of our future God has placed in my spirit to warn the church of what is to come – a return of a spirit of divination, a return of a spirit of Endor. In 1 Samuel 28:3–25 we read of a scene between a King (Saul) who travels to Endor to meet with a witch for the sole purpose of seeking to gain a meeting with the spirit of the prophet Samuel, who had since died. It was through the ability of this witch by the means of a familiar spirit that the King was able to communicate with this spirit, which brought upon him certain judgment by God.

There has been a significant increase in mysticism currently within the church where spiritual leaders are opening the doors to the occult world through the means of divination, to seduce and snare many a person into believing that it’s possible to communicate as well as utilize the spirits they make contact with. It is called Necromancy, but there is another name for it that many within the church are more appropriately accustomed to – prophecy.

I need to be very clear here so there is to be no confusion in what I’m about to write, by no means am I suggesting that prophecy is wrong or Godly, prophecy is a wonderful means to which God speaks to his people to edify, encourage, correct and often times warn. However, Satan is equally cunning and he equally knows and understands the ability to deceive, which is why we are told in 2 Corinthians 11:14 that Satan comes as an angel of light, meaning, he masks his deception under the guise of spirituality and many are falling for it.

Like Saul, many Christians are seeking the spirit of Endor – the witch. They do it by seeking those who have a genuine ability to communicate with the spirit world, those who claim to have been given the gift of prophecy and their titles include Prophet, Prophetess, and Seer. These individuals are coming into the body of Christ under the spirit of divination, they are antichrist and their gifting and abilities are nothing more than an illusion, masking their true agenda of deceiving the people and making more converts along the way.

What is coming within the body of Christ is a time where men and women, proclaiming the ability to communicate with the dead, will begin to utilize the church under a spirit of divination by the means of familiar spirits. Already there are some who claim the ability to communicate with those who have passed on within the church and that number is growing steadily. They speak under the guise of prophetic utterances, impressing many who cross their path that those in whom they have come in contact with are past loved ones, but they are really demonic spirits. This is the deception which is coming to the church in the last days – spiritual deception.

To be clear, there is no such thing as a Christian “Medium”, nor is it possible to speak to the dead, (those who have since crossed over into eternity). Equally so, there is no prophet or prophetess who is able to receive information from the spirit world to relay specific messages to the living. It is a deception that must be dealt with before it continues to take root as it has recently with many within the Charismatic movement from such circles as IHOP, Bethel Church (Pastor Bill Johnson), Rick Joyner and Todd Bentley to name a few. Any person who is in direct communication with angels on a consistent basis, who receives guidance from the spirit world thru dreams, visions, or thru contact with past servants of God such as William Branham or Smith Wigglesworth, even through the popular means of grave soaking (where one lays upon the grave of a departed preacher to receive their anointing) is witchcraft. Yet this is exactly what is taking place within the church right now and will grow in the next decade.

The only hope for the church is to return back to the cross and a complete rejection of what is happening currently within these circles. It is demonic, it is spiritualism and it will condemn those who partake of such actions under God’s judgment. God has indeed genuine prophets and seers, but they never operate outside their respective gifting nor do they operate under their own guidance, for their action is always led by the Holy Spirit, to which they were given such information to begin with and not from a familiar spirit nor under a spirit of divination. The choice is yours to make and the consequences will weigh the outcome.

  1. I’ve already encountered the mysticism that hijacks the charisma, or gifts that God gave to the church to build up the body. Those are gifts that He wants us to employ. however, whenever there is a mixture, then any gift will become impure, and lead to idolatry. For example, the new ecstatics and the new mystics. They mix drug culture wording with the scriptural terms that apply to the actual working of the Holy Spirit. I have examples of this and it’s sad.

    • Deb says:

I appreciate the comment above about ‘mixture-so very true. And yes,you hear, drunk fest, and stoned, and other ungodly references to “Christian” meetings and conferences..come on,this is even blasphemous in my opinion. Our Father is so awesomely holy and pure..

  2. We have to be careful not to judge the true working of the Holy Spirit, as did the Pharisees when Yeshua’s words set a man free of demonic spirits. Now, how often have you or any of your friends encountered the demonic and what did you do about it? It takes a great amount of faith to obey God when He tells you to do something that may not look like “church” as usual. The five gifts that God gave to the body equal the four fingers and the thumb. It is the hand of God. If one of those appendages are missing, so is the power of God for that situation. That is why we have a powerless church.

Can you please post specific instances of IHOP, Bethel Church (Pastor Bill Johnson), Rick Joyner and Todd Bentley being involved with mediums?

    • anonymous says:

They are most definitely NOT involved with mediums, necromancing, etc…! I have attended and been a part all of these ministries except Todd Bentley’s. After having attended MorningStar for 7 years, Bethel for 3 and attending many IHOP sessions I can say that the leaders of these churches have never preached or agreed with any kind of communication with the dead, even under the guise of prophecy.

Has Mr Greogory contacted Bethel, IHOP, MorningStar? I think before someone writes such accusations as have been written above, one needs to contact the ones they have accused and ask for their views on this subject, in order to find out if their is any truth in what they have heard regarding these leaders in the church. Going off of what one has heard, not what one has experienced is nothing more than judgmental gossip. To accuse like this does nothing more than create rifts in the church and spreads malicious lies.

Also in regards to this statement,

“Any person who is in direct communication with angels on a consistent basis, who receives guidance from the spirit world thru dreams, visions, or thru contact with past servants of God such as William Branham or Smith Wigglesworth, even through the popular means of grave soaking (where one lays upon the grave of a departed preacher to receive their anointing) is witchcraft.”

I would recommend reading Revelations, Ezekiel, 1 & 2 Samuel, Isaiah, Daniel, the story of Joseph, writings of Paul, Mary and Joseph, and the list goes on and on! All of these are filled with dreams, visions, angelic visitations. If God is the same yesterday. today and forever wouldn’t he still show His abundant love to His children through dreams, visions and angelic visitations? Seeing someone from the past in a dream is not communicating with the dead either. God spoke throughout the entire Bible using pictures of one things to represent another and I believe the same goes for dreams, for instance if your see Smith Wigglesworth in a dream he could represent a man who was not afraid to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

As far as grave soaking goes- I have never once heard any of the above listed pastors preach about grave soaking in order to receive the anointing. I have however heard of students from their schools doing so. This is not to say that they agree with it though. This “practice” actually became popular through another ministry, though it has become distorted from what was actually said.

With the huge grace movement that is sweeping through the Church , I believe that it is easy for the “fear of the Lord” to become less of a priority. Which is not right in the least, but it will be seen as a priority again because Pastors Bill Johnson, Rick Joyner, Todd Bentley, etc… are teaching and preaching Jesus, and HE IS TRUE THEOLOGY. Whatever you know about God that is unlike Jesus is not God! (MT 11:27, JN 14:9, LK 15)

P.S.- Mr. Gregory I have read through many of your posts and I am trying to find what covering you are under and what prophet/church called you into the office of prophet? TIA.

  4. anonymous says:

I am not questioning whether or not you have the gift or prophecy, or hold the office of a prophet. My question is who are you accountable to in the body? As believers we are called to live in community and be accountable to one another (psalm 133:1, Acts 4:32, Acts 2 etc.. Hebrews 13:7, Prov 27:7 etc..) The governement of God was set up in 5 parts- First the Apostle, Second the Prophet, Third the Evangelist, Fourth the Pastor and Fifth the Teacher.

Each one with a purpose: apostles to govern, prophets to guide, evangelists to gather, pastors to guard and teachers to ground. They are supposed to work together, with Apostles as the steering wheel so to speak.

Throughout the New Testament you do not see only one person working alone. They were all accountable to one another, even Paul. This is why I ask the questions. Anyone can say “I am a prophet.” “I am a Pastor.” etc… And I’m not saying they aren’t. I am saying that we are called to be accountable to one another. Iron sharpens Iron. We are all still human. We all can still make mistakes, hence the importance of accountability first and foremost to God, but also to other leaders in the church who hold office. The very men you accused in this post hold themselves accountable to multiple leaders. This protects the office holder so that they do not come to a bad endings as did some of Fathers of the faith- Dowie, Branham, etc…

    Hebrews 13:7 says
“Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you.”

Paul did not say “I have the mind of Christ” he said “We have the mind of Christ.” Everything that God is about is about family, unity. We are the body of Christ, we are adopted, grafted in, children of God… The leadership of the church is called to family also. By asking what prophet or church called you into the office of Prophet I was not asking who said, “You are to hold the office of prophet.” I was asking who as a leader in the Body recognized the gift and accuracy of the gift in you? Who taught, mentored, trained, encouraged you in this calling? Throughout church history not only did a person hear from God of their calling, but the leaders of the church and people recognized it and called it out in them, encouraging them.

    • anonymous says:

Being accountable to others is actually all through the Bible. “Covering” is just another word for it. Control and covering are two different things. A covering that tries to control is not right for anyone. A spirit of control is not what I am asking if you are under. When you do hold yourself accountable to others who also listen to the Holy Spirit and they bring something to your attention that they didn’t feel was right, it doesn’t mean that you immediately bow to their desires. It means that you have given them a place in your life where they can speak to you. You then take their concern and pray about it and then act. People have heard wrong from what they thought was God. We all have missed a prophetic word or misinterpreted verses. How do you think we have so many different denominations in the Church? Being accountable to someone simply gives you a covering/protection through relationship that works to build you and grow you. Not tear you down or keep you from doing what you are called to do.

If Paul could rebuke Peter to his face, can you not also be rebuked by another leader?

If God uses you to speak correction to others why can He not also use others to speak correction to you? Do you see what I’m saying. God can speak himself, he can give you a dream, a vision, an angelic visitation. He can even send someone into your life to speak encouragement and at times voice a concern. He is God and He can speak to you in whatever way he wishes.

I never belittled God’s role. His role is of the highest importance. Please do not accuse me of such or put words in my mouth. God is more than enough. The Holy Spirit is more than enough to correct, if we have ears to hear.

Paul went to Jerusalem to seek council. He reached out to the churches leadership for relationship. He didn’t just go out alone without relationship. That is what accountability and covering are about-RELATIONSHIP Paul was an apostle. He was over other leaders in the early church, he held the churches accountable. But before that he needed Annanius and Barnabas and the other disciples, but most of all He needed God.

And as far as Hebrews 13:7- Remember your leaders and superiors in authority [for it was they] who brought to you the Word of God. Observe attentively and consider their manner of living (the outcome of their well-spent lives) and imitate their faith ([h]their conviction that God exists and is the Creator and Ruler of all things, the Provider and Bestower of eternal salvation through Christ, and their [i]leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness).
8 Jesus Christ (the Messiah) is [always] the same, yesterday, today, [yes] and forever (to the ages).

If you are not in relationship with a church or accountable to anyone. What pastors or leaders in the church do you not speak against? I’ve seen you slash Bill Johnson, Rick Joyner, Bob Jones, Derek Prince, the Copelands, Todd Bentley, etc… I have yet to see you encourage or edify anyone? Isn’t that the main call of the prophet?

    • My only response is we are all independently accountable to God. Now, I support The Jimmy Swaggart Ministry and the message of the cross. Once you understand the cross, then you will understand that these men I’ve named are dabbling in things which remove the cross from the center of the church. It’s the message of the cross.

      • anonymous says:

I understand the cross. As do these men you have listed. I challenge you to find their sermons on it and listen to them, hear how the cross changed their lives. Look at the fruit of their ministries and see them through a God of Loves eyes, not an eye of looking for wrong.

JImmy Swaggart is an amazing man of God who has been overcome a lot of challenges and seen amazing miracles. I’m glad to hear you support his ministry. But please don’t cut down these other ministries without finding out the very core of truth before hand.

What about the message of grace and love? Jesus died on the cross extended His mercy, save us and wipe away our sins. But he ROSE AGAIN! And then he extended Himself in relationship with Love and Grace! The hebrew word for “salvation” is “sozo” meaning saved, healed, delivered. Saved from a life of Hopelessness and hell, healed inside and out, delivered of demons and anything that keeps us from HIM! All so that we can live in the FULLNESS of His GOODNESS that he called us into as His children.

  6. anonymous says:

Self appointment with no accountability is why you have to stay in control like deleting comments that question your abuse against men in the body of Christ on Social Media. IT is easy when you are not face to face and doing things in a biblical way much less in Father’s love. We are a body HIS BODY!

  7. To anonymous:

You really did a textbook hijacking of the theme of this piece.

There are counterfeit spirits at work in the churches today–and there is so little discernment, people sit in churches and worship a spirit that is not Holy and not from God.

I left a church that just succumbed to the IHOP/Bethel/antichrist false doctrines. It’s a disturbing thing to see these poisonous false doctrines dripped into the church. It’s even more disturbing to read someone defend them–and defend them anonymously.

“I’ve seen you slash Bill Johnson, Rick Joyner, Bob Jones, Derek Prince, the Copelands, Todd Bentley, etc… I have yet to see you encourage or edify anyone? Isn’t that the main call of the prophet?”

We are not to edify or encourage those who traffic in works of darkness. If anyone speaks contrary to the Word, we are to “mark” them, warn others and have no part with them. Why are you defending such antichrist forerunners? Why aren’t you performing your Christian duty and marking them? Why are you not warning others? These are commands, not suggestions.

The “fruit of their ministries” is bad fruit.

Defend Kenneth Copeland: “When I read where God says I AM, I just smile and say “I AM too.” or defend Copeland’s “I am a little god.” That’s straight from the serpent. That is indefensible.

I’ve seen Kenneth Copeland, Bob Jones, Bill Johnson, Todd Bentley the others on your list slash Jesus Christ. Repeatedly. I have yet to see one of them repent of their attacks on Jesus.

Bob Jones was a false prophet. Jones issued a number (most) of his prophecies which simply did not come true. That is the definition of a false prophet. We are to warn others of false prophets. Why are you defending a documented false prophet? Better yet, why are you anonymously defending one?

Finally, God so loved Kenneth Copeland and the others on your list, that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to die for their sins. If only they repent and believe on Him alone, they might be saved. Pray that Bob Jones repented of his public (and private) sins before he died. Pray that the others forsake their lifestyles of sin and heresy and follow Christ before it’s too late.

That is a message of love.

So let me get this clear, a medium is forbidden, but the medium known as Jesus Christ is OK? Mediums are evil right! But the prophets, although are mediums, are excluded from being classified as wicked? Pharaoh’s high priest did the same as Moses, but Pharaoh’s priest were sorcerers and Moses was not? God creates life to tell the Israelite’s to come and take it. So, King David is in no means similar to that of ISIS? Think people! Break the shackles of mental enslavement and deception. Stay away from the light. One is easily deceived by his/her own sight. That evil one wants you in the light, so that he can pull off his trickery. It’s hard to deceive a blind man…

  10. Bro Mandla says:

You must read & understand the Bible before blaspheming God’s servants. What makes you think the spirit of God thru William Branham was witchcraft? Whats your source? Did God send you? Stop blaspheming God & His servants, rather pray for revelation because you are blaspheming God to His face. Rather shut up if you don’t have anything to say.
