“Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,” 1 Timothy 4:1

There was a time when Voice of the Martyrs was instrumental to global awareness of Christian persecution around the world, and without question, had it not been for the vision of Richard Wurmbrand and his dedication to exposing the slaughter or imprisonment of believers of Jesus Christ around the world, the church, as well as Democratic nations would never have known the struggles of many who have suffered and are suffering under extreme oppression. The church remained informed and up to date on what was happening in places such as the Sudan, China, Iran and Russia. But after the death of Richard in 2001, things began to change and worse, what was supposed to be the voice of the oppressed, became a voice of greed and corruption as well as compromise.

When Tom White took the reins, it was clear change was the phase VOM was going. From a position which stood against tyrannical oppression against human beings and basic human rights and a fierce voice of evangelical merit, VOM under White’s leadership began to take less of a stand against human rights violations when it came to Christian persecution, but VOM’s sudden shift toward a more embracing of ecumenical beliefs and ideas, a warm reception to the Roman Catholic church began to rise within its ranks, and what was clearly a departure from its founders main Biblical principles, became a new shift toward a more tolerable approach to liberal ideas.

VOM has since become more accepting toward Catholicism and it seems that the links between the Roman Catholic Church and VOM is clear, they are unifying to bridge the gap between evangelicals and the Catholic faith, and what’s worse, they are using the financial donations of sincere Christians to finance this ecumenical movement. But as VOM became fixated on embracing anything from Catholicism to Seventh Day Adventists, Tom White was under State and Federal investigation for allegations he had sexual contact with a 10 year old. In 2012, Mr. White, knowing he was to be arrested, committed suicide before charges could be filed. The voice of Christian Martyrs fell under the spirit of the age and even presently, are facing ever growing pressure to give accounting of their financial statements for their recent $28 million dollar headquarters built in Oklahoma. Not to mention Voice of the Martyrs had agreed reluctantly in 2001 to help about 100 believers who were imprisoned 5-10 years for their faith in communist prisons in Romania, currently destitute in their 80s and 90s, with less than $1 (yes, one dollar) a month. For a charity program which supposedly was meant to help those who are under extreme persecution, VOM has done more to distance itself from its very philosophy.

It is becoming clear that VOM has become seduced by a spirit of corruption.

Now we have World Vision, a world-wide charity program dedicated in helping the poor and displaced, recently announced they were ending a long time view of homosexuality and instead have changed their bi-laws to incorporate same sex “Christian” marriages (article). In a strange departure from Christian principles, Richard Stearns explained to Christianity Today the rationale behind changing this “condition of employment,” as well as whether other Christian organizations with faith-based hiring rules should follow World Vision’s lead. His argument is, well, he doesn’t have an argument, only that he does not want to get into the “gay” debate. But it’s interesting to note that Stearns openly considers anyone who acknowledges a homosexual marriage or lifestyle and professes Christ as a “Christian”. This goes against scripture. “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,” 1 Corinthians 6:9.

What is happening in these sad but recent events within the modern church is the beginning of apostasy. We have been warned time and time again that in the last days, perilous times would arise, leading many astray. The recent events with Voice of the Martyrs and now World Vision with its inclusion of homosexuals, is an indication of the spiritual divide taking place in the church today. The only hope is for the body of Christ to awake from its slumber and confront the issue of the day – spiritual idolatry. Only until we face the spiritual corruption happening around us, will we truly ever be able to make an impact on our world.

It’s time to clean house, for if we don’t clean up this mess, God most certainly will. That’s one house cleaning I don’t want to come to my house, do you?

I am so glad I read this today. I was really concerned to read in VOM’s April 2014 msg fr the Desk? of the president makes the stmt “These two young Pakistani girls are now in heaven ….” If we were to go to heaven when we die, there would be no need for the second coming. See: 1Thes. 4:13-18. Some of us wonder: What would be best? Die before to be first in the air or second so we can hear the shout to be heard around the world? Doesn’t really matter if we maintain the race to get that last person saved so it will be time for the second coming.

Thanks and God bless you for posting this Brother Christopher. I have posted much about this on my own blog. I had once been deceived by Voice of the Martyrs myself. I had lived in Bartlesville, OK, supported VOM financially, and even volunteered at the VOM headquarters at one point in time. Later, at some point the Lord began to open my eyes to the truth. Thus, when Tom White committed suicide and I posted a rebuttal to VOM on my blog, I received nearly 1,600 views on my blog the first day, and many emails and comments condemning me for speaking out about Tom White. There were those who held him up almost as an idol.

As I began to research more concerning VOM I became convinced that the Catholic Church had somehow become heavily involved in the operations of VOM, almost from the beginning when Tom White insinuated himself into the good graces of the Wurmbrands, whom I believe were deceived by him.

Where there is such a huge amount of donation money being poured in by well meaning people, including evangelicals, to a supposedly Christian outreach, It can very often attract those who would like to control and divert it for they’re own purposes.

There is much more to VOM than meets the eye, the extent of which may never fully be known. It has grown to be such a behemoth and well thought of in evangelical circles. it has literally taken on a life of it’s own.
