I received the following statement from the office of Kenneth Copeland Ministries concerning my pressing of an explanation for his departure from scripture by embracing Pope Frances and the Roman Catholic Church. Here is the statement:

“Recently, I received a message from Pope Francis in which he asked that, as a ministry and part of the Body of Christian believers, we pray for him. In 1 Timothy 2:2, the Bible teaches that we are to pray “for all that are in authority.” It is scriptural that we do so. And, therefore, it is our duty to honor the Pope’s request and, as a Body of believers, join our faith with his by coming together in unity and agreeing with him in his quest, and for what is in his heart: the unity of the Body of Christ. So, in obedience to our Lord and His Word, we join our faith with that of Pope Francis as we pray with and for him, that he will receive the righteous desire of his heart, according to the words of Jesus in Mark 11:24: “That whatsoever things you desire when you pray, believe you receive them, and you shall have them.” Our desire, along with that of Pope Francis, is in the fourth chapter of the book of Ephesians: “Till we all come in the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God unto a mature man unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” This is very important to us all, as the Body of Christ.” — END OF STATEMENT

Now, I want the reader to catch the following words Mr. Copeland used in his statement they sent me. Copeland states we are to “join our faith with his” [pope frances]. This is error. 2 Corinthians 6:14 states “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?” The apostle Paul makes it very clear that the believer has no spiritual right to join hands in either spiritual matters or physical union.

Pastor Copeland already makes the case he believes and accepts the Pope as a fellow believer, this is error, for by accepting the Pope, it is embracing doctrinal error of salvation by works, the Pope is the vicar for Christ (substitute), that the Pope has the ability to forgive sin. This is not only error, it is heresy.

Copeland states that our (evangelical church) and the Roman Catholic Church is to “unity (merger) of the body of Christ” so Copeland has already made the claim that those within the Roman Catholic Church are believers. This too is sadly error. The word makes it clear in Galatians 2:16 “yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.”

Ephesians 2:8-9 states “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not by works lest any man boast.” The fact is, those within the Catholic church are working toward their salvation, through the Catechism, through the confessional chamber. They have placed their trust in the church and not in Christ. This gives them a false salvation and a false hope.

Copeland states in his reply, “we join our faith with that of Pope Francis”, again, this is unscriptural. As I have already established, we who are in Christ, do not, nor cannot have ANY fellowship with those who are in darkness. If this was the case, then Copeland as well as the rest of the body of Christ should eagerly join hands with the Mormon church, after all, they too deem themselves to be “Christian”, but we know this is not truth. By Copeland’s argument we should accept the Jehovah Witnesses, or the Seventh Day Adventist’s or many other cult groups.

Here’s what is really taking place – Ecumenism of the highest order. What Kenneth Copeland is attempting to do is violate the word of God to appease the spirit of the age (which is antichrist) and bridge the gap between the body of Christ and the Roman Catholic Church. This is the beginning of the foundation of the coming world religion. Copeland is in deep spiritual error and will give an account of his actions at the judgment.

There can be no union between Catholicism and the body of Christ, for the two are like oil and water, they cannot mix, one is light, the other is dark. The results will be explosive. I believe we should heed the warning found in 1 Timothy 4:1 “Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,

Don’t be deceived in these last days friend.

  1. No, it starts and ends with faith – nothing more.

    • Scarlett says:

“Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.” Psalm 127:1

For all it’s outward grandeur, pomp and circumstance, Catholicism has built on shifting sand and it will fall in due time….along with it’s “vicar”.

  2. a2zprep says:

  3. Kenneth Copeland is a heretical Freemason.

Pity the church I attend cannot figure out that both Copeland & the vatican are heretics.

We now know your ministry, Christopher, is that dark side. Good luck.

  5. Ed says:

It is interesting and timely as the Lord was impressing on my heart the word “depart”. In order for someone or something to depart, they must leave, change course or begin to move from a stationary position. Regardless of what one believes of another person the issue here is departing from the faith. This answers the question of why some perhaps operating in faith in God and the atoning sacrifice of Jesus in the past may move away or depart from what they once knew. I do not want to paint with a wide brush and say that he never knew God, that is between God and the person but it is interesting to note that there is a passage where the individual may even appear to be doing all the right things (do not forget that God’s word will never return back void), and God will still pronounce….”I never knew you.”

  6. Michele says:

Thank you for writing about this! I was completely shocked when I saw the video of Kenneth Copeland & Pope. The LORD says, “that in the last days if possible even the elect will be deceived.” Mat 24v24. I deleted Copeland Ministries from my TV recording. It is so amazing to see how close we are to Jesus’ Return, exciting! Come Jesus Come!

All I can say is that the Accuser of the Brethren is running rampant in the Body of Christ. Who are you to judge if Pope Francis is a Christian or not and that other Catholics aren’t. I am a born again spirit filled believer in Jesus Christ and am ashamed of all of these accusations that are going forth. It is not our ministry to judge. We are called to love and the ministry of reconciliation. No wonder the world disdains us. They don’t know us by our love. They only see our pointing finger.

    • So you’re going to play the “do not judge” card eh? Go back and read your Bible then tell me we’re not called to judge.

      • John Brooks says:

Yup, I always tell them to read that passage and go a couple of verses more about not casting pearls before the swine. Wait, that is judging who is swine isn’t it? Ha. The Bible also speaks about judging righteous judgement in John 7:24 and not by appearances.

      • Yolandi says:

Satan is the accuser of the bretheren. Obviously you have taken over his job for him! I guess Jesus would have been ridiculed by you for praying with tax collectors and prostitutes. Hmmm….

Christopher, tonight is the first I have seen your website. It is so encouraging to me. When I saw Copelands join with the pope it shook me to my core. I came out of the Catholic Church when I was born again……………Kenneth evidently is ignorant of the teachings. The Cath Church is leading millions to hell. It is the blind leading the blind. It is works righteousness.

    • Thank God you were set free from deception. 🙂

    • Sam says:

It may take a while to filter down to all congregations in the Catholic Church but in the late 1990’s the Vatican published an edict that salvation is through faith alone thus ending the need for protestations. The Catholic Church at the highest levels and soon to filter to all, is that we are justified by faith, saved by grace. What a joy to see the world’s 1.2 billion Catholics have access to this truth. Pray for them.

  9. stefanie says:

wow – I’m born again and I’m catholic. I will pray for you 😀 and I thank anyone here who will pray for me. We all need it that’s for sure (incl. the Pope). I realize that some Catholics hold wrong beliefs (but boy, I’ve run into some pentecostals and Baptists who do also). What do I need to be a child of God other than faith in the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus?! (don’t worry, I know the answer – it is NOTHING!) Bless you.

  10. peri-shin says:

    2 Peter 3:8-9
    Amplified Bible (AMP)
8 Nevertheless, do not let this one fact escape
you, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one
day. 9 The Lord does not delay and is not tardy or slow about what He promises, according to some people’s conception of slowness, but He is long-suffering (extraordinarily patient) toward you, not desiring that any should perish, but that all should turn to repentance.

    Luke 5:27-32
    Amplified Bible (AMP)
27 And after this, Jesus went out and looked
[attentively] at a tax collector named Levi sitting at the tax office; and He said to him, Join Me as a disciple and side with My party and accompany Me. 28 And he forsook everything and got up and followed Him [becoming His disciple and siding with His party]. 29 And Levi (Matthew) made a great banquet for Him in his own house, and there was a large company of tax collectors and others who were reclining [at the table] with them. 30 Now the Pharisees and their scribes were grumbling against Jesus’ disciples, saying, Why are you eating and drinking with tax collectors and [preeminently] sinful people?
31 And Jesus replied to them, It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick. 32 I have not come to arouse and invite and call the righteous, but [b]the erring ones (those not free from sin) to repentance [to change their minds for the better and heartily to amend their ways, with abhorrence of their past sins].

    Romans 10:5-17
    Amplified Bible (AMP)
5 For Moses writes that the man who [can]
practice the righteousness (perfect conformity to God’s will) which is based on the Law [with all its intricate demands] shall live by it. 6 But the righteousness based on faith [imputed
by God and bringing right relationship with Him] says, Do not say in your heart, Who will ascend into Heaven? that is, to bring Christ down; 7 Or who will descend into the abyss? that is, to bring Christ up from the dead [as if we could be saved by our own efforts].
8 But what does it say? The Word (God’s message in Christ) is near you, on your lips and
in your heart; that is, the Word (the message,
the basis and object) of faith which we preach,
9 Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation. 11 The Scripture says, No man who believes in Him [who adheres to, relies on, and trusts in Him] will [ever] be put to shame or be disappointed.
12 [No one] for there is no distinction between
Jew and Greek. The same Lord is Lord over all [of us] and He generously bestows His riches upon all who call upon Him [in faith]. 13 For everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord [invoking Him as Lord] will be saved. 14 But how are people to call upon Him Whom they have not believed [in Whom they have no faith, on Whom they have no reliance]? And how are they to believe in Him [adhere to, trust in, and rely upon Him] of Whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher? 15 And how can men [be expected to] preach unless they are sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings! [How welcome is the coming of those who preach the good news of His good things!] 16 But they have not all heeded the Gospel; for Isaiah says, Lord, who has believed (had faith in) what he has heard from us? 17 So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).

    Matthew 13:24-30
    Amplified Bible (AMP)
24 Another parable He set forth before them,
saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25 But while he was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed also darnel (weeds resembling wheat) among the wheat, and went on his way. 26 So when the plants sprouted and formed grain, the darnel (weeds) appeared also. 27 And the servants of the owner came to him and said, Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? Then how does it have darnel shoots in it?
28 He replied to them, An enemy has done this. The servants said to him, Then do you want us to go and weed them out? 29 But he said, No, lest in gathering the wild wheat (weeds resembling wheat), you root up the [true] wheat along with it. 30 Let them grow together until the harvest; and at harvest time I will say to the reapers, Gather the darnel first and bind it in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my granary.

    Matthew 13:36-43
    Amplified Bible (AMP)
36 Then He left the throngs and went into the
house. And His disciples came to Him saying,
Explain to us the parable of the darnel in the
field. 37 He answered, He Who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, and the good seed means the children of the kingdom; the darnel is the children of the evil one, 39 And the enemy who sowed it is the devil. The harvest is the close and consummation of the age, and the reapers are angels. 40 Just as the darnel (weeds resembling wheat) is gathered and burned with fire, so it will be at the close of the age.
41 The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all causes of offense [persons by whom others are drawn into error or sin] and all who do iniquity and act wickedly, 42 And will cast them into the furnace of fire; there will be weeping and wailing and grinding of teeth. 43 Then will the righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with God) shine forth like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Let him who has ears [to hear] be listening, and let him consider and perceive and understand
    by hearing.

    John 17:20-23
    Amplified Bible (AMP)
20 Neither for these alone do I pray [it is not for their sake only that I make this request], but also for all those who will ever come to believe in (trust in, cling to, rely on) Me through their word and teaching, 21 That they all may be one, [just] as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe and be convinced that You have sent Me. 22 I have given to them the glory and honor which You have given Me, that they may be one [even] as We are one: 23 I in them and You in Me, in order that they may become one and perfectly united, that the world may know and [definitely] recognize that You sent Me and that You have loved them [even] as You have loved Me.

Real Christians believe and hope as God believes and hopes. True children of God value the life of the sinner, the heathen, the apostate and those which do err.. Children born of love value life, they being groomed in the love of God believe for all things, hopeth all things.. Just as God is patient with all man let us also be patient with all man.. None of those we place in low esteem of the faith and sideline already as worthy of eternal hell can come to the knowledge of the truth and to the fullness of the stature of Jesus if one is not sent to them, and that sent to preach to them.. Shall we put St. Martins, St. Patricks in the custody of our poor and self righteous judgement.. If we are chosen to do so then well but if not let us bear in mind that all the souls of man belong to their Maker… and this is the desire, the holding back, the patience of their Maker in taking His time to announce the great consummation.. Let us pray for the grace of God that found us lost and wandering would so graciously find those we know, reason, consider and understand to be lost.. Life is so important to God that is why He delays to come hoping that all would come to repentance.. Peter and Ezekiel came to understand it.. May the Lord’s pleasure be our pleasure and may His displeasure be our displeasure.. Life is important to Him.. May we receive of His grace His great and wonderful patience toward all men.. A Saviour
who bears salvation is present there only to give Himself to those that need a Saviour and salvation..

    Ezekiel 18:20-32
    Amplified Bible (AMP)
20 The soul that sins, it [is the one that] shall
die. The son shall not bear and be punished for
the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear and be punished for the iniquity of the son; the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him only, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon the wicked only.
21 But if the wicked man turns from all his sins
that he has committed and keeps all My statutes and does that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die.
22 None of his transgressions which he has
committed shall be remembered against him; for his righteousness which he has executed [for his moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation], he shall live. 23 Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked? says the Lord, and not rather that he should turn from his evil way and return [to his God] and live?
24 But if the righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity and does according to all the abominations that the
wicked man does, shall he live? None of his
righteous deeds which he has done shall be remembered. In his trespass that he has trespassed and in his sin that he has sinned, in them shall he die. 25 Yet you say, The way of the Lord is not fair and just. Hear now, O house of Israel: Is not My way fair and just? Are not your ways unfair and unjust? 26 When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity and dies in his sins, for his iniquity that he has done he shall die. 27 Again, when the wicked man turns away from his wickedness which he has committed and does that which is lawful and right, he shall save his life. 28 Because he considers and turns away from all
his transgressions which he has committed, he shall surely live; he shall not die. 29 Yet says the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not fair and just! O house of Israel, are not My ways fair and just? Are not your ways unfair and unjust? 30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, says the Lord God. Repent and turn from all your transgressions, lest iniquity be your ruin and so shall they not be a stumbling block to you. 31 Cast away from you all your transgressions by which you have transgressed against Me, and make you a new mind and heart and a new spirit. For why will you die, O house of Israel? 32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him who dies, says the Lord God. Therefore turn (be converted) and live!

    Luke 9:51-56
    Amplified Bible (AMP)
51 Now when the time was almost come for
Jesus to be received up [to heaven], He steadfastly and determinedly set His face to go to Jerusalem. 52 And He sent messengers before Him; and they reached and entered a Samaritan village to make [things] ready for Him; 53 But [the people] would not welcome or receive or accept Him, because His face was [set as if He was] going to Jerusalem. 54 And when His disciples James and John observed this, they said, Lord, do You wish us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, [a]even as Elijah did? 55 But He turned and rebuked and severely censured them. He said, You do not know of what sort of spirit you are, 56 For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them [from the penalty of eternal death]. And they journeyed on to another village.

    James 1:19-27
    Amplified Bible (AMP)
19 Understand [this], my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear [a ready listener], slow to speak, slow to take offense and to get angry. 20 For man’s anger does not promote the righteousness God [wishes and requires]. 21 So get rid of all uncleanness and the rampant outgrowth of wickedness, and in a humble (gentle, modest) spirit receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted [in your hearts] contains the power to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the Word [obey the message], and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth]. 23 For if anyone only listens to the Word without obeying it and being a doer of it, he is like a man who looks carefully at his [own] natural face in a mirror; 24 For he thoughtfully observes himself, and then goes off and promptly forgets what he was like. 25 But he who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing (his life of obedience). 26 If anyone thinks himself to be religious (piously observant of the external duties of his faith) and does not bridle his tongue but deludes his own heart, this person’s religious service is worthless (futile, barren). 27 External [a religious worship [[b]religion as it is expressed in outward acts] that is pure and unblemished in the sight of God the Father is this: to visit and help and care for the orphans and widows in their affliction and need, and to keep oneself unspotted and uncontaminated from the world.

Who are we to NOT judge the spirits of Catholicism? Thanks for the article!!!

  12. jerry says:

the guy that says that do not “Judge” who are we to Judge. you are either an ignorant or surely you are also being deceit. The bible says examine everything, we must filter every teaching every wave of false teacher that are wolf on sheep’s cloth, how do you know who is good or who is bad? how?. we are leaving on the last days, Jesus warned us from the false teachers, many times over. so here you come and say don’t judge…… is not for us to judge!!!!!. common wake up and smell the coffee. we must love and no to judge, sorry my friend but, its our duty to be aware of the false teachers, read the book of Timothy. is full of warning about the false teachers.

  13. Steve Gregoire says:

This article is the one in error.

When I need to distinguish who are sheep among wolves, I look at the fruit. In this article I see accusational, antagonistic language. Especially in the comments. It shows a dismissive, arrogant attitude.

I’m certainly not convinced that the author has had much experience in relationships with Catholics and leading them to a saving relationship Christ. As a missionary in Mexico this is what I’ve done for four years. Catholics do need to abandon heretical doctrines like praying to saints, salvation by works, and it is accomplished by relationship with understanding Christians who behave like Jesus.

Mr. Christopher, you are more concerned with being correct; the love of the Father is not in you.

  14. Father,

In the name of Jesus, we come before you and open our hearts and ears to hear from YOU today. We thank you for the lives of men and women who lay their lives on the line for you daily. We may not always understand or agree with everything they do or say, but we thank you for their willingness to obey you as they understand your calling.

We ask you to help us lay aside our pre-conceived ideas about you, cast aside this divisive spirit of religion, and embrace YOU Father.

Speak to us through you Word and Spirit. Correct us, Lead us, Guide us, Make us more like you.

    So Be It

If we’re going to judge a each other’s heart before God, by our beliefs and theology… there are zero people going to heaven. Everyone has some right and wrong beliefs about God. We’re all growing in the our walk with Him.

There is ONE matter that matters. As long as you believe in Jesus, I’m willing to disagree with you about a great many things, but work together in unity.

Pope Francis LOVES Jesus. I’ll see him in heaven. I’ll see many of you there too. We can sit around the lake, and chat about this day, that we turned our hearts toward heaven.

They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved–you and your household.” Acts 16:31

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, Ephesians 1:18

    Pursing LIFE, Darrell

Clearly the author of this article knows nothing about the teachings of the Catholic Church. For example, he believes that the Catholic Church teaches that Catholic Christians are saved by works, as opposed to God’s grace, as a result of Jesus’ salvific work on the cross – and yet fails to support that notion with any facts. Very sad indeed…

    • Would you like for me to show you directly from the Catechism itself on what the RCC constitutes as being ‘born again’? Or would that embarrass you too much for your obvious lack of knowledge on this subject, one in which I clearly know more than you do.

  16. Nathan Tere says:

In the book of Revelation a remnant church for the last days that has been equipped with the early teachings of Christ is prophesied to be raised up (REV: 12-17) It keeps the ten commandments (including the Sabbath commandment) and has the testimony of Jesus, which we find is the spirit of Prophecy (REV: 19-10) This remnant church proclaims the three angels messages of Revelation that are to go into all the world. One of these messages is to come out of the system of Babylon, and her daughters (the false churches). God calls them out from this and into the remnant church that He has prepared for His faithful. This church has been identified as the Seventh Day Adventist church. Daniel chapter three is relevant for our times as it will occur again through means of the papacy. The false worship is the day of the sun, Sunday, it ignores the sanctity and importance of the seventh day Christian Sabbath, Saturday. Sunday being the mark of the beast, the Catholic church being identified as the beast and Sunday as its mark as evidenced by their declaration of this. Saturday has always been God’s seal. The Seventh Day Adventist church are Bible believing Christians.
