There is no question that when it comes to same sex marriage, the church, as it appears to date, has lost another vital battle for the soul of America. Yet the question which really needs to be asked instead is, was the church even interested in fighting this battle to begin with?

The cultural war that has been waging within our society for the past decade when it comes to same sex marriage, is nearing an end, and the only victim it seems is the modern day church – again. Its not as if this comes as any big surprise, the past battles the church should have fought (and won) has all but proven that something is desperately wrong with the churches focus, its vision, and its goals.

From abortion, to prayer in school, the church stood by and focused on other issues which seemed more of an issue, and the result was prayer was removed, along with the 10 commandments, from public schools. But it didn’t end with prayer, abortion became the law of the land. The church gasped for a few moments but quickly recovered and went back to focus its attention on other important matter, all while a darkness began to form and hover over the nation.

For more than 50 years, things began to change within the heart of America, from the entertainment world, which saw such wholesome shows like Andy Griffith and the Dick Van Dyke show slowly become considered “hayseed” for the changing times, to seeing more edge cutting material such as Mary Hartman Mary Hartman which dealt with such issues even then that were considered “edgy” at the time, such as lesbianism and abortion, to Laugh In, a direct reflection of the hippie movement of open sexuality, immorality and drug use. A complete change in what the people were simply not accustomed to, and most were not prepared for.

Yet it wasn’t just television, it was music, from the innocent period of the early 50’s of the sock hop, to a more vigilant display of rebellion in the 60’s sex revolution. Everything was changing in America, and its timing was identical to those two past Supreme Court rulings in favor of killing of the unborn and the rejection of Christianity in the public schools.

We can trace almost every point in time in our nations history, where key issues that should have been dealt with by the church, were neglected and later all but ignored. The result was the moral fabric of the country became unraveled, piece by piece. Decades passed, cultures changed and by the new millennium an entire new generation was now birthed, ready to reap the change that were planted over 5 decades past. Still, with all the reaping within our society, the one constant voice which has grown more silent has been the church of Jesus Christ.

There comes a time when God says, “Enough is enough” and judgment must come. 1 Peter 4:17 says it like this, “For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?” The problem within the modern church has consistently been a conspiracy of silence from the pulpits when it comes to sin. The message of the cross has been replaced with a social gospel, one which embraces diversity and rejects truth. Pulpits by men who have forgotten that with the gospel comes a heavy responsibility to proclaim the truth, even if it causes offense, the gospel must cut thru the thickness of sin to break the bondage of those caught up in the cares of this life. Yet many have quietly taken a more comfortable position which says it’s easier not to rock the boat within our culture and the results have rocked the nation to such a degree that the only viable option is a shaking to the modern church. If not the church, what hope to the world?

This is where we are now at.

America is now going through the final metamorphosis from a nation which cherished the principles of the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob, to embracing the spirits of lust, greed and perversion. Within the past few hours (at the time of this writing) 21 States now have either adopted same sex marriage, or by mandate by the Federal courts to begin accepting gay marriage. Since 2008, when President Barack Obama uttered his now famous words that he would begin to end traditional marriage in America to begin embracing gay marriage, the nation began to transform into something perverse, something abominable, something disgusting. And the church continues to remain silent.

So what will America look like when the dust has settled and gay marriage is the law of the land as it now appears that it is all but certain it will be? I believe we can see a glimpse of what America will resemble once gay marriage has been finally established, and it’s found in Ezekiel 16:49 “Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. They were haughty and did an abomination before me. So I removed them, when I saw it.” The word abomination the prophet Ezekiel is referring to is speaking about homosexuality. Ezekiel is warning a particular nation that the same fate which came to Sodom, will be the same fate to any other nation which allows itself to fall into such depravity.

The church is about to be shaken to its core, and out of its core will come a voice the world has not experience for nearly 2,000 years, the voice of a church united, filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, not just in message, but also in demonstration of power, where the lame will walk, the blind will see, the deaf will hear, the dumb will speak and those bound by demons will be set free. The church will find its voice in this new America and it will realize that the message of the cross is the only message that will expose the darkness around it. That is what Satan is not counting on.

So while our nation no doubt will not look the same in the coming years – it won’t. Changes will become so shocking at first that it will catch many believers off guard, but while the nation and its society will change to a more perverse one, there will be a remnant of believers who will begin to counter this darkness and reveal the truth to all who will listen and obey – the message of Jesus Christ.

Yes, it is very clear now that when it comes to gay marriage, we have more or less lost this battle, but the war is still raging and the word of God says we win! The only thing which can counter the powers of darkness is the message of the cross, nothing else will do. Wars are not fought nor won by particular battles, wars are fought when the soldier realizes his strength, and our strength continues to be in the cross. That in itself will guarantee our victory.

Amen! We must turn back to the Word of God and hold fast to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As we share His gospel He will move and bless. God bless you:)

I used to love the Andy Griffith show until I accidently read about his and Barney’s real life. I can’t help but think about that and now can’t even watch the show. ajc Seems we have lost the adultery battle as well and the pornography battle and the middle class and poor have also lost.
