The prophet is a fool;…” (Hosea 9:7)

And the angel of the LORD said to Balaam, “Go with the men, but speak only the word that I tell you.” So Balaam went on with the princes of Balak.” (Numbers 22:35)

There is a plague sweeping the Charismatic/Pentecostal church today and it’s growing in record number, seducing and capturing the hearts and bank accounts of believers and leaving in its wake a path of destruction that only Satan could manufacture. The plague? Lying prophets.

The other evening God gave me a dream in which I stood on a dirt road that separated two fields which were heavy grown with wheat. I stood at the top of a hill as it sloped downward between both fields, when the image of a young man appeared before me. This young man has become a popular figure on Christian television and its subsequent ministries, namely the Benny Hinn program as well as Daystar television. This young man, whom is rising among the Charismatic/Pentecostal church world, is considered the current flavor-of-the-month with many a popular ministry for his status of “prophet” who is said to be able to provide secret information such as being able to tell someone out of the crowd their phone number, home address and/or bank account information. He is considered the religious elites prophet of the hour, yet what the Lord showed me about this young man (as well as about so many others who garner the title of prophet) is that he is nothing more than a sideshow attraction to an already over gluttoned display of Charismatic foolishness that is robbing the people not only of their spiritual soul, but robbing them of their hard earned cash as well.

But let me go back to the dream; In this dream that God began to reveal some things to me about this young man was that he had traded his gift and calling for gold, forsaking the harvest of souls he could have reached and/or won for the kingdom for Christ. Yet, like so many before him, he has chosen, like Balaam, to sell his talents for the highest bidding. Yet what we are seeing more and more in this late hour of these last days are more men and women who were once called of God who are now selling out for the almighty dollar. Such is the path of many within the church right now who are being exploited by lying prophets who have traded in their gifts for money.

When Balak ordered Balaam to curse Israel, Balaam could not do it for he knew that God would not allow him to curse God’s people, but unfortunately Balaam had already knew his price and eventually sold his gift and calling as God’s prophet and died along with the enemy of Israel, all because Balaam had purpose in his heart the desire for financial gain instead of God’s blessing. We are seeing the same today with many who claim to speak for God but in truth they are enemies of the cross simply because they have sold to the flesh the desire for financial gain their spiritual gifts.

Friend, let me tell you something that you need to understand, and it is this, if a prophet comes to you and seeks to give you a word from the Lord, or tells you to do something in return for that word from God and it always has money attached to it, that man or woman is a false prophet and you need to stay away from that individual! Peter warned about this in 2 Peter 2:3 “In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. But God condemned them long ago, and their destruction will not be delayed.”

The church is flooded with the spirit of Balaam, whereby lying prophets are robbing the people blind and what’s worse, either the pastors are apart of the problem or they have absolutely no discernment whatsoever to be able to tell when a person is a genuine servant of God gifted in the calling of a prophet or not. The fact is, people are easily snared by the lies of these soothsayers for gain because the people want it so. They want the nice words of comfort, even though God would desire them to repent and walk a path of righteousness, the people are growing less desirable for God’s word and more desirable of the false words of these lying prophets – and they’ll pay dearly for it.

I’ve seen these men come in surrounded by their own entourage like some Hollywood celebrity, razzle and dazzle the crowd with gimmicks which are nothing short of a combination of divination and lucky guess work which is mastered by the one able to read someone they are “prophesying” to, and then add to their prophetic word a demand for a seed offering which will somehow make that spoken prophecy able to come to pass but only if that person has the right amount of money or who is willing to risk losing God’s financial favor and even go into debt to bring it to pass. Friend, this is the spirit of Balaam at work in the church today and we see it all around us.

But let me warn those fools who think they can get away from stealing from God’s people, and it’s found in Galatians 6:7 “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.” I assure you that God has not turned a blind eye to what is happening in the modern church today, he is all too aware of it and soon he will judge those who have went the way of Balaam. It is only because of his love for them and a desire that they repent that many are not dead today. But I fear that is what is coming.

Do I believe in the prophetic calling? Absolutely. But I do not believe in what is being passed off today within the modern Charismatic church as anything Godly, but a counterfeit which is all about money. Again, God does not require a “pay for prayers answered” type of gospel. He seeks one thing and one thing only – faith. Simply believe and nothing more. But if a man or woman who claims to speak for God, regardless if they can tell you anything of a private nature, requires a financial payment for their prophetic words, that man or woman is a wolf and they need to be held accountable.

The church is under attack by wolves who come in every size and shape today, and we can only win this battle when we preach the gospel according to the truth, and that truth will always be found in the cross. Flee anything which seeks to demonstrate God’s gifts and talents or calling for money, for they who come in such a way are coming to you under anothe spirit and that spirit will destroy them eventually as it did Balaam. Beware.

Excellent post/article I always wondered if this man was truly a prophet of the Lord God ever since I saw him on a Benny Hinn program prophesying to a lady she would get money in her bank account and then advised her that when she did to take out of the money from the bank immediately .. Left me wondering isn’t that called theft taking someone else’s money

These men are not lying prophets, they are con men. They do the same tricks as other magicians on t.v. I wish some of the magicians on t.v. would just expose their tricks and secret microphones. It probably wouldn’t change anything. People like entertainment and always looking for a false way. It is so much easier than prayer and trust. I have to be honest and say, I think prophecy has ceased. Maybe at 70 AD when the new covenant began. Old temple, way of worship etc. destroyed and gone as told by Christ.

I agree there’s a lot of deceivers, many pretending to speak for the LORD or saying such things that aren’t even biblical, and on your second half of the comment I disagree ,so then what was Paul trying to say in ( Ephesians 4:11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers,)
